Hebrews 11 - Nathanael

There is so much in this chapter tuary speaks to me, it is difficult to choose only a few.

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children.
Hebrews 12:7
We all face hardships of many kinds. We are told to view those as God's work in our lives to train and form us into all that we can be.

For what children are not disciplined by their father? Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.
Hebrews 12:9-10
God's goal is not for us to have difficult lives but to improve us and enable us to share in God's holiness.

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Hebrews 12:11 NIV
That is true - discipline is hard. But the long term benefits are amazingly good!
