Hebrews 4 - Nathanael

Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
Hebrews 4:11‭
It is somewhat ironic that we souk make every effort to enter into rest: ie work hard to rest. But in God's rest is life! Clearly obstacles for us include disobedience that leads to death instead of rest. But we need God's help to be able to accomplish this. That is what is said in verse 16:

Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:16 NIV

When we sin and fail, our default reaction is to hide and run. But that is the opposite of what we need to do. We need to run to God. And Hebrews says "with confidence". That is because God loves us and has proven that love by dying for us. So God wants us to run to him and get help from him!

Thank you Jesus for your love and that you want me to run to you! Thank you for your mercy, grace and help!
