Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth."
Genesis 11:4
God had instructed both Adam and Noah to spread out and fill the earth. Here we see the people rebelling against that command.
That is why it was called Babel —because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
Genesis 11:9 NIV
Good intervened and accomplished his purpose and goal. It is interesting to see how God works with us. At times like this he overrides the choices and will of people and other times he lets it stand.
