Romans 6 - Nathanael

For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
Romans 6:9
Jesus had defeated the power of death. We no longer have too great death but can live in the hope of eternal life in Christ Jesus!

The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.  In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:10-11
Not only does his death free us from death but it also frees us from the source of death, which is sin!

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
Romans 6:12
Jesus then calls us to live for him. He set us free from the power of sin so that we can obey God. Without Jesus we are slaves to sin. But now that we are free he calls us to make a choice not to go back to our former captor.

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
Romans 6:22
We should now serve God as our master and not sin. Serving God leads us to holiness and eternal life!

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 NIV
Here us the summary of the message: when we sin, we receive the just rewards of sin which is death. But the good news is that God had given us a free and undeserved gift of life. When we choose to follow him and put our hope and trust in Jesus, he gives us this free gift of eternal life!
