Romans 8 - Nathanael

This is a powerful and hopeful chapter! There are so many important verses it is hard to limit myself to only a few 😃.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
Romans 8:1
This is a promise of great hope! When we feel condemned we need to remember the truth that for those in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation! It is a lie that we should not listen to.

The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
Romans 8:6-8
Or minds cannot serve or please God by themselves.  That is why it is so important to learn to hear God's voice and follow him!

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
Romans 8:13
Though in Christ we have the promise of life and a changed heart, there are still choices we must make as we put to death the misdeeds of the body.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Romans 8:14
This is both a promise and a call. The promise is that God will lead us. The call is that we need to listen and follow God rather than ourselves.

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Romans 8:18
We will go through sufferings here on earth. But they are nothing when compared to God's glory and working that we will experience later!

Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
Romans 8:23
We wait in hope for our resurrected bodies and living with Jesus forever!

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Romans 8:26
Many times we don't know how to pray. But the Spirit helps us and prays with and leads us in prayer.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
Here is another great promise! All the painful and confusing circumstances that we God through are not for nothing. Jesus is working in all of them for our good!

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31
Wow! Another powerful promise! We have the God who created the universe on our side. That means that there is nothing that can stand against us or stop God's plan in us!

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:‬38‭-‬39 NIV
Another amazing promise!
Nothing can separate us from God's love! He is a loving father who cares for us and is watching over us. He paid the highest price for us and he won't let us go and nothing can separate us from him!
