Genesis 16 - Nathanael

In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the Lord 's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."
Exodus 16:2‭-‬3 NIV
This is about 1 month after God brought the Israelites out of Egypt. They had been singing songs to God of God great deliverance and they feared and trusted God. Now 30 days later they are complaining and saying 1) God should have just killed  them in Egypt 2) things in Egypt were great.
They forgot how bad things used to be in slavery and painted a false rosy picture of the past.
I've seen that, like it or not, we are very much like the Israelites.
So we need to be on our guard against 1) complaining when things get hard 2) glorifying the past 3) forgetting what God has done for us.
All it takes is about 30 days and we can get far off course.
