Paul loads this chapter with much practical advice and important statements of truth. He includes some important statements that he wants us to pay attention to so he describes them as a "trustworthy saying" and "God's solid foundation". Those sound pretty important to me!
Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
2 Timothy 2:11-13
What strikes me is that 3 of the four are good news and there is one that is a serious warning: don't deny Jesus. The great news is that even if we become faithless, our eternal life is built on God's faithfulness not ours! Thank you Jesus for your great love and faithfulness!
Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."
2 Timothy 2:19
This is a powerful statement of belonging and a strong challenge to pursue the one we belong to. Help me Jesus to fully turn to you and find life!
