Colossians 1 - Nathanael

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,  so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:9‭-‬14 NIV

This whole section except for the last verse is one sentence. It is powerful and needs to be broken down:
We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives
The Spirit gives us wisdom and understanding and the knowledge of God's will. And we should pray and ask God to do this for us.

so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way
That knowledge of God's ways and spiritual wisdom and understanding enable us to please God and live a life worthy of him.

Here is a list of the things that please God in our lives:
1) bearing fruit in every good work, 2) growing in the knowledge of God, 3) being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might 4) so that you may have great endurance and patience,

who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves
God is the one who qualified us and rescued us.

the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
In Jesus we were bought back from sin, death and captivity and our sins were forgiven!

Thank you Jesus and thank you Father God for your amazing love, sacrifice and workings for us!
