John 2 - Nathanael

Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name.  But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
John 2:23‭-‬25 NIV
In our day, fame is something that people clamor for and desire greatly. But Jesus understood the emptiness of fame. He already was the highest name and the greatest man though people didn't know it. He didn't need their validation as we often, though wrongly, feel that we do. He knew what was in people's hearts - duplicity and evil of all kinds - and want looking to impress them nor gain their approval.
We should take stock of this.

  1. I think it's interesting the Jesus did not seek fame or approval from people, which is something that we often want more and more. I think it would be nice to be famous or well known or well approved by people, but actually it is more important to be close to God and have favor from Him.
