This chapter had a lot of practical instructions for various situations that are happening in the church then and which have applicability to many situations faced by the church today.
Now about the collection for the Lord's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
1 Corinthians 16:1-2
Money is a topic that many shy away from because there has been much misuse and abuse. However it should be discussed in an open and honest manner as Paul does here. He gives quite a practical instruction for weekly collection of monies to send to God's people who are in need. He has used this same instruction to the Galatian church.
You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the Lord's people. I urge you, brothers and sisters, to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it.
1 Corinthians 16:15-16
Two interesting things here: 1) Paul openly and publicly gives specific commendation to individuals 2) he gives instructions about which people are leaders that the church should submit to
For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.
1 Corinthians 16:18 NIV
Again he gives public recognition to specific people
