The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
2 Corinthians 4:4
This is a reminder that there is a spiritual battle that we face. When we are reaching or to others the key is prayer. We need God to open eyes and back off the god of this age.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
2 Corinthians 4:7
Our bodies are frail, breakable and not glorious. But as we follow Jesus, they are filled with God living in us - the power that changes the world.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NIV
We often focus on the troubles, the hardships and pain. But Paul reminds us to keep our eyes and focus on God and his kingdom. Though they are unseen now, they are eternal and of greatest importance.
